The day began early at Le Relais Bressan for the second annual Petanque Tournament. Nearly 100 players had arrived by 9am on the slightly overcast, Sunday morning and by the first tea break the sun was out and the fun and games were well and truly under way. Competition was lively with some strong contenders coming from as far away as the Gold Coast challenging the locals.
“It is one of my favourite days of the year. A real celebration of everything French - music, sport and of course the food,” said owner Thierry Clerc.
The crowd of over 250 people were catered for with a big french BBQ which included pork, lamb chicken, beef fillet, superb brochette of meat and vegetables.
Two huge marquees were set up to accommodate the festivities which culminated in the finalist awards being present to winners Marie-Rose and Peirrot Auguste from Currimundi and second place getters ‘locals’ Chantal and Laurent Vancam.
