Bob Gammage refers to himself as a ‘colourist’, his creations as ‘artscapes’, and his business as ‘Theatre of Life Artistry’.
He is a painter, writer, philosopher and sculptor ... a bohemian who lives where his feet are, and he endevours to abide by one rule - do no harm.
Based on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Gammage is distinctive not only in his style but also in his approach to art. No secluded studio for this artist, he truly captures the theatre of life. Bob chooses to capture the magic of life's events - weddings, birthdays or live events such as festivals, carnivals, in fact almost any community oriented event.
In a further unique twist, Gammage invites the very people he is painting to also contribute to the work, with his collection of paintings holding the brushstrokes of literally thousands of people, all composed live at the event, under his hand.
His dedication to community organisations of all sizes has seen him paint for Transplant Australia, The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Queensland Cancer Fund, Vision Australia Local Charity Fundraisers, K.I.D.S. Foundation Care Flight Australia, Leukemia Foundation, Schools and dozens of other charities.
“We all leave brushstrokes behind to guide future generations back through our historic meanderings,” says Bob. “We are the palette of our ancestry, the colours of the moment, and the embryonic stage of our future artscape.”
A chronic traveller, Bob sets off this month for his annual pilgrimage which includes travelling across Australia attending a number of festivals, charity events at which he is booked to appear, three weddings, a festival in Tasmania and then finally making his way back home in mid 2007.
